Pyramidal poplar in the greening of settlements

Most of the cities of Russia are not too happy about the eyes of their inhabitants because of the virtual absence of full gardening on their streets. But just recently, for these purposes, a pyramidal poplar was widely used. Due to the unpretentiousness and instant growth of poplars, you can create a whole alley without spending a lot of time on it.

Unfortunately, recently poplars are in disgrace. They were attacked by physicians, since during the flowering of these trees the latter produce a huge amount of down that not only promotes allergies but is also potentially dangerous in terms of possible fires. However, experts in the greening of settlements in one voice argue that to create an enabling environment for life in our metropolises the most suitable tree is poplar.

And this fact was known to the ancient Greeks, who planted poplars in their policies, creating picturesque avenues in the shadow of which the ancient sages performed not one of their brilliant discoveries. But the fact is that even then it was known that in landscape gardening one should use exclusively male plant specimens, since they do not give fluffy, known for their bothersome. In general, poplar is a multifaceted tree, and botanists do not stop researching all its properties to this day.

However, in Soviet times, when a plan was adopted for the mass planting of trees in the city, it was women's specimens that were used (largely), which led to the known negative consequences. An exception are only some southern cities, where the pyramidal poplar is represented by individuals of both sexes.

What are the advantages of this culture? First of all, these trees are valuable because of their phenomenal resistance to gas contamination and dust, which is common in our cities everywhere. In addition, they can be successfully cultivated on virtually any soil, where they grow with such tremendous speed, which is beyond other trees of our latitudes is not noticed. The speed of poplar growth is such that literally in a few months you can create a full protective plantation.

Among other things, the pyramidal poplar differs in that it releases into the air phytoncides that not only destroy pathogenic microorganisms, but also contribute to the improvement of air quality in general, which is very important for cities. The peculiarity of poplars is also their biological diversity: today there are more than 100 species known, but due to light interspecies hybridization many scientists assume that there are already many more. Such hybrids grow even faster than their parent species (the effect of heterosis). In addition, they even better tolerate pruning and extremely quickly restore the shape of their crown.

Thus, the pyramidal poplar is a tree that is ideal for gardening. If you take into account its dioeciousness and select plants in view of this circumstance, it will not be difficult to get rid of poplar fluff in the streets.
