Physiological needs - basic human needs

Man is the highest creation of nature, its ruler. People fly into space, engage in science, create and destroy, improve and simplify. Nevertheless, man, in its anatomical and physiological structure, belongs to the class of mammals. Only the presence of reason distinguishes animals from humans. If the civilization, everything that the man has created over the millennia of his presence on the Earth, perishes, then from our most diverse requests: spiritual, aesthetic, social, creative, only the physiological needs will remain, something that is characteristic of the whole animal world.

In human behavior , two sides are distinguished, which are very related to each other: regulatory and motivating. It is the motivation associated with needs and motivations that compels a person to behave appropriately. The main source of human activity is his need, they stimulate behavior, direct him to the search for what he wants. A need is a state of the individual when he needs certain conditions that he lacks for normal development and existence. You can say that a person is constantly in a state of need for something, that each time is filled with a specific content (subject of need).

No matter how high the spiritual aspirations of a person, he must eat to maintain vitality; Sleep to restore them; Drink, not to die from dehydration; To satisfy the instinct of reproduction, so that the human race does not disappear.

Whatever the heights of progress, without full satisfaction of these basic natural needs, the quality of life of each individual will be low. At one time, the theory of psychologist Abraham Maslow from the United States became popular. He brought out the theory of human needs, the so-called "pyramid of needs". The scientist claimed that physiological needs are the most important, basic. If they are not satisfied, then this can lead to the destruction of the whole body, disease, death, finally. In order to survive, a person needs very little, but to feel comfortable, to be healthy and live a long time, you need a little more.

Anatomically - the physiological needs of a person is a set of conditions under which one can survive:

- Physical existence, if there are no disasters, hunger strikes and serious diseases;

- thermal comfort, safe radiation level (constant normal body temperature);

- clean air (composition that does not lead to anomalies of the genetic plan);

- drinking water with the necessary set of chemicals;

- good, calm sleep and lack of stress;

- healthy, high-calorie, tasty food.

Only when these needs are met, there are needs for security, recognition, etc. If a person has a good sleep, food, quenched thirst for water and oxygen, then he has physiological needs of a higher level. These include sexual needs. Without it no one will die, but the dissatisfaction of intimate desires leads to a violation in the human psyche and even to deformation of the person.

Satisfaction of basic needs is a very important part of life, but if you leave only that, then what distinguishes us from animals? The physiological needs of our body we can feel without the help of other people. We will definitely feel hunger, fatigue, lack of air or water. But how to satisfy the thirst for fame alone, with whom to divide the creative success, the triumph of sports victories?

Spiritual need for faith and love, a sense of conscientiousness, selfless service to the idea and people, the desire for knowledge, creativity, perfection, self-realization - this is peculiar only to man.

Human needs are a broader concept than physiological ones. It includes all the spectra of man's spiritual and rational activity. These needs are unlimited, and people can satisfy them only in a society of their own kind.
