Museum of water. We invite you to travel.

Museum of water ... I think if you, like me, consider yourself an avid and quite experienced traveler, then of course you have already heard about such museums more than once.

What is this special place? What can be so unusual in seemingly banal water that only it is necessary for it to build a whole museum? I'm going to tell about this in my article.

In general, such places are created, pursuing two goals:

  1. In detail, acquaint visitors with the water and sewerage economy of the city, the country and even the world.
  2. When trying to draw attention to pollution problems and saving water resources of our planet.

If you look in the water museum, its employees and experienced guides will gladly tell you about the interesting facts associated with each exhibit. Of course, such premises are in most cases built in order to demonstrate the history and process of the development of sewerage and water supply. But in addition, you can also get acquainted with materials containing unique, and sometimes completely invaluable information related to the time of the creation of the water main. Having visited one of these expositions, you will have an opportunity to trace all the main stages of the development of the water supply process, as well as to learn about the upcoming world projects for the future.

For today in Europe there are 18 such expositions. As a rule, they are organized at large municipal enterprises, which are involved in the water supply of a particular region.

I'll tell you about several such places.

Capital of Ukraine. Kiev.

Several years ago I visited the Water Museum in Kiev. An amazing place, which is sure to please both adults and children. Here you can climb up and take a picture on a large toilet, listen to the roar of a tropical rainstorm, standing inside an artificially created cave, stroke the hands of huge fish, each of which has its own name, build a sand castle using a children's spatula and go inside a giant soap bubble!

New York, USA).

One of the most grandiose museums in the world is on the Atlantic coast of the United States of America. The Water Museum of New York is the first and only public exhibition complex of the city, which is devoted exclusively to water and the problems of water reserves of our planet. Here is a large collection of water-related exhibits. In every corner of the building you can discover something new. For example, to visit the world's only exhibition of crystals that are able to change shape in front of visitors. Have you ever seen a computer completely made of water? In the Museum of New York you will be asked to design your own! Fans of thrill can try themselves in the role of a virtual surfer, fighting with huge ocean waves. Be sure to see firsthand all those changes that water undergoes, making a complete cycle.

Petersburg Museum of Water.

St. Petersburg also boasts of having such an amazing place. The museum complex "The World of Water of St. Petersburg" is the youngest and the most modern in the city on the Neva. If you book an excursion in advance, you can immerse yourself in the history of the main water station of the Northern capital for 40 minutes. At the moment, the museum exhibits three expositions: a historical, multimedia and exhibition hall.

Of particular interest, of course, is the multimedia complex. For eleven minutes, visitors find themselves in a magical world, telling about the meaning of water in a person's environment. In the beginning, the Neva will flow, into which small streams will flow on both sides, and on the virtual banks you can see the outlines of the Northern capital. A little later you will be transported into the interior of the grid of water and sewer pipes of the metropolis. And finally, prepare to visit the virtual basement of the average residential house, to find out where the water from our sewer pipes actually goes, and the highlight of this "journey" will be a visit to the so-called stalactite cave inhabited by bats and ghosts.

As you can see, in any country the trip to the water museum is like immersion in a mysterious world of the unknown and mysterious. If you ever get the chance to visit one of these places, it seems to me that such a chance can not be avoided.
