Maintenance of GAZel: expert advice

Before carrying out the inspection of the car and the diagnosis of its components, the machine should be installed on a flat surface, and under the wheels to put the wheel chocks.

Carry out inspection of the engine at the time of its operation with special care, and with the removed protective covers and panels of rotating and movable parts, it is recommended to be at a safe distance. Electronic systems and wiring diagnostics should be carried out by disconnecting the terminals from the battery.

Daily maintenance

With daily maintenance, the levels of coolant, engine oil, lubricant level in the power steering expansion tank are checked . Also check the amount of brake fluid and the presence of water in the mechanism of the windshield washer. The inspection of the condition of the wheel tires is carried out and the tire pressure is measured. If the pressure is below normal, they should be pumped.

Check the oil level in the crankcase of the engine on a cold and idle motor, and the car must be installed on a flat surface. The level of lubrication must be between the maximum and minimum mark on the dipstick. If necessary, it must be added. Oil change on "GAZel" is carried out after every ten thousand kilometers of run of the car.

Cooling system

The level of the cooling liquid in the expansion tank is checked only on a cold engine. However, it should not be below the minimum mark, but at the same time do not exceed the maximum. If the coolant needs to be topped up quite often, then check the coolant pipes and their connectors and the radiator for leaks. In the event that no leakage is detected, the cause may be overheating of the engine.

Gearbox Maintenance

Gage oil level gauges in the gearbox are performed on a vehicle mounted on a flat surface and unloaded. Carrying out stage-by-stage maintenance of GAZel, it is important to know that the oil level should not be lower than 8 mm in accordance with the bottom edge of the filling hole. The level is checked through the process opening, which is located on the left side of the crankcase. The drain plug is equipped with a magnet to catch small metal particles.

Inspection of the main gear

The oil in the rear axle should be flush with the bottom edge of the filler hole. Car service "GAZ" recommends replacing the oil in the main gear with a car run of 60 thousand km. And when the car is operated in severe climatic conditions (low temperatures), the replacement is carried out in accordance with the established technical regulations. Drive of brake system

Check the amount of brake fluid on the labels of the expansion tank, usually made of translucent plastic. If the brake system is in good condition and there are new brake pads, the level remains unchanged for a long time. Reducing it may indicate excessive wear of the lining. In this case, replace the shoe. Carrying out maintenance of GAZel, and in particular of the braking system, it is necessary to conduct a thorough visual inspection of all pipelines and their connecting sections for the presence of leaks. If they are found, measures should be taken to remove them, including replacement of damaged pipe fittings and system components with new parts.

When the level in the reservoir reaches the minimum mark, then on the instrument panel this signal is signaled by a light signal. In this case it is important to stop the car and find out the cause of the leak. Filling should be carried out only after elimination of breakage.

The replacement of brake fluid on the car "GAZelle", repair and maintenance of the brake system must be carried out only at the maintenance companies, where there is a specialized equipment and accessories for repair work. Use the car with faulty brakes is prohibited.

Hydraulic steering system

The oil in the expander must be between the maximum and minimum mark on the dipstick. Check the oil level on a cold engine. It is not recommended to keep the steering wheel in the position when it is turned to the stop for more than fifteen seconds, because the overheating of the lubricant is likely to damage the power steering pump. It is strictly forbidden to operate the car at a low level of oil in the tank of the system.

Battery check

Service maintenance of GAZel also includes checking the electrolyte level in the battery. When using auto in normal climatic conditions, the battery does not require any serious maintenance. But under low or high temperature conditions, it is important to periodically check the density and the amount of electrolyte in the battery. This indicator in the sections should be between the minimum and maximum marks. If the level is lowered, it should be restored by adding distilled water to the battery. The spilled electrolyte on the battery should be removed with a clean rag, which is pre-moistened with calcined soda.
