Girls quickly and easily came to success. At least they became widely known at home. Many specialists for them even predicted an international career, but they did not have many foreign tours. To become famous outside of Uruguay they simply did not have time.

Luisel Ramos, whose last show was held in the capital of Uruguay, Montevideo, by 2006 was already a very visible model.

August 2, a large fashion show in the largest city of this South American country gathered a lot of venerable fashion designers and secular people. And not only from Latin America itself, but also from America and even Europe. The grand opening of the haute couture week was held at the five-star Radisson Victoria Plaza Hotel.

The tragedy with the heroine of our article occurred right on the podium. Suddenly, for everyone, Luisel Ramos fell. The doctors, who were at that time in the hall, tried to provide her with first aid, but were powerless.

Eyewitnesses say that everything happened when the model was already defiled on the podium. She ran to the dressing room to change her dress. At this point, unexpectedly fell Luisel Ramos. The last show of the girl remained in the memory of all the participants of that evening.

Cause of death

According to the official version, the death of the photo model Ramos Luisel came as a result of a heart attack. The organizers say that the ambulance arrived in about 20 minutes. Luisel Ramos, whose biography became a vivid and revealing case of how people risk their lives and health for the sake of success and glory, had attractive parameters for the model. Her height was 175 centimeters. At the same time, Luisel Ramos weighed only 44 kg. Thus, the mass index of her body was only 14.5. While the indicator already in 16 units indicates serious problems, the need to consult a doctor.

What is anorexia?

For Luisel Ramos, anorexia became the main diagnosis. It is this disease, according to doctors, and triggered a heart attack.

In general, anorexia is a serious enough and dangerous disease, in the first place it is mental. The main symptom of anorexia is a strong weight loss. The illness is accompanied by constant internal problems. A person is afraid of panicky fatness, because of this it seems to him that even every eaten baby can negatively affect its appearance. In the imagination of a sick person, the idea of one's own appearance changes radically. The patient constantly remains extremely unhappy with the way he looks. Therefore, all the time trying to improve their own physical form through diets, exhausting sports training, eventually with the help of almost complete or complete refusal of food.

All these problems lead not only to mental, but also to physiological disorders. In particular, severe hormonal and metabolic disorders.

Specialists distinguish two types of anorexia: the nervous and the psychic. The first implies a complete refusal to eat or a sharp restriction with a single goal - weight loss. Typically, this type of anorexia occurs in girls who are victims of the influence of modern media, who aggressively advocate craving for leanness and body parameters of model appearance.

The second type of anorexia is mental. It occurs in both women and men. Its difference is that a person refuses to eat due to a complete lack of appetite. This can be caused by several reasons. Fate of the sister

In a tragic accident, Luisel and Eliana Ramos died in a similar way. The younger sister of the heroine of our article, who was also a model, became a victim of anorexia.

The tragedy occurred about six months later. In 2007, on the eve of Valentine's Day, Eliana disappeared. Their deaths are very similar. Like her older sister, Eliana suffered from anorexia, which provoked a heart attack. In fact, the heart stopped from malnutrition.

It is worth noting that soon after the death of Luisel Eliana Ramos told correspondents that a large number of Uruguayan photomodels suffer from anorexia nervosa. Most of them regularly torture themselves with starvation.

It is sad that the tragic experience of the sisters has not taught their colleagues much. Soon in Latin America, another model was buried with a similar diagnosis. This time, the victim of false beauty ideals was the Brazilian model Anna Caroline Restorn. It is widely known that she recently ate only apples and tomatoes before she died.

The reaction of society to death from anorexia

The tragedy that occurred with Luisel and Eliana Ramos, plunged many into shock. In Uruguay, after that, they launched regular campaigns initiated by the Ministry of Health, which called on women to abandon starvation and suspicious diets in pursuit of harmony and unnatural thinness. In addition, the number of deaths from anorexia began to increase. Some doctors even called this disease one of the most dangerous in the 21st century.

After these cases, changes in the fashion world touched many countries. In particular, in Spain in 2006, at the world famous Madrid Fashion Week, it was decided not to allow models to be shown before the show, whose body index was less than 18. A similar decision was made by Italian fashion designers. There they decided not to work with models with a "zero size".

Note that the "zero" is considered the parameters of the body with a breast volume of 80 centimeters, waist 58 and hips 86. To understand how much such dimensions are unnatural, it should be mentioned that the waist of the average 8-year-old girl in the UK is 56 centimeters.

True, while the fashion industry in the UK did not go to the strict prohibitions that were adopted in other countries. Here we limited ourselves to a prescription, in which designers were urged to hire exceptionally healthy models.

Ramos death investigation

Upon the death of the model, a thorough investigation was conducted, the forensic experts made an autopsy. At the same time, local law enforcement agencies declined to comment.

At the same time, other versions of the death of models were expressed. So, the founder of a major agency Pancho Dott, who worked with the sisters Ramos, claimed that the girls were physically fit and well-fed. And all the talk about their anorexia does not correspond to reality. In her opinion, the cause of their deaths was a certain genetic disease.
