Learn any of these 16 programming languages - and you will always have a job!

There is an opinion that the modern world "feeds" on software. To date, there are more than a thousand different programming languages. Some of them are more popular, others are used only in specific directions.

In search of new talented programmers, large companies-developers are ready to work with specialists who not only know how to work with long-known languages such as Java, Visual Basic or Delphi, but also are ready to learn new products like Apple Swift or Google Go.

Below are listed the most popular programming languages according to the TIOBE index, the Redmonk Language Rankings rating and the annual review of Stack Overflow developers.

Java

This programming language, created in 1991 for smart TV, still remains one of the most popular in the world. This is explained by the fact that Java writes the vast majority of applications for the Android operating system, as well as for software used in banking institutions.

FROM

Being one of the oldest programming languages, C, created in the early 70-ies of the last century, still remains widely in demand. Not pass the popularity and full guidance - 800-page book called "Programming Language C", the first edition of which was published back in 1978.

Python

This software product, developed in 1989, is still popular due to its easily readable code. There is an opinion that Python is ideally suited for the initial learning of programming basics.

PHP

For programmers who know the PHP language well, there is always work. More than a third of all Internet resources, including WordPress, Facebook and Yahoo, use it in their work. At the same time, many programmers literally hate this product. According to the founder of Stack Overflow Jeff Atwood, PHP is not so much a programming language as a random set of arbitrary commands.

Visual Basic

The first version of the Microsoft Visual Basic product, as well as its successor, Visual Basic.NET, differs from other languages in a graphical element that allows you to swap parts of the code by dragging and dropping them. Despite the fact that it is already relatively outdated, Visual Basic still has its fans.

JavaScript

One of the most popular programming languages in the world. It is used mainly in various web applications. Despite its name, the product has nothing to do with Java. JavaScript is used in many browsers, but sometimes its use slows down their work, and also makes users more vulnerable to external interference.

R

This language was created specifically to create programs used in statistics and in the analysis of various data. Widely used by Google.

Google Go

This language was originally developed to create systems of colossal scales needed to support the most loaded search engine on the planet. Now Google Go is developing at a fast pace thanks to a well-chosen and professional team of programmers.

Ruby

By its popularity with the developers of Ruby almost not inferior to Python. The programming language is very easy to write and read, and having a Rails add-on makes it very convenient for the creators of various web applications. Not surprisingly, Ruby's official motto is "The programmer's best friend."

Groovy

Created in 2007 to facilitate and accelerate the creation of large software codes, Groovy almost immediately became a very popular language. Because it blends nicely with Java codes, it has allowed it to become popular with large companies like IBM, Google and Target.

Objective-C

After the stunning success of the original programming language C, many new versions of it have appeared. All of them were based on the original version of the product, but they were equipped with functions taken from other software. Recently, the popularity of Objective-C is gradually falling due to the rapidly developing language Swift, developed by Apple.

Perl

Developed in the late 1980s by one of the NASA engineers, Perl really liked the developers for their flexibility and power. He even received the nickname "duct tape on the Internet", as he could link several websites together. The only drawback of Perl was that the programming on it was quite a complicated process even for experienced developers.

Pascal

This programming language was named after the famous mathematician and philosopher Blaise Pascal. Pascal played a very important role in writing software codes for Apple Macintosh computers. Later it turned into the so-called Object Pascal. It is still used for educational purposes, as well as for creating serious codes and applications.

Delphi Object Pascal

Created by the developers of Apple in 1986, it was originally intended to help programmers connect to Oracle databases. However, Delphi is now widely used to create various applications for smartphones.

Apple Swift

This "young" programming language is becoming more popular every day, gradually replacing such "monsters" as Objective-C or Java. With it, it's very easy to create applications for the iPhone. After the manifestation of interest to Apple Swift from IBM, specialists in working with this programming language have become very popular all over the world.

MATLAB

This product was created as a mathematical programming language in order to solve complex computational and logical tasks, and also to process images. MATLAB is still popular with engineers and scientists developing applications of artificial intelligence.
