Creation

Kondrat Krapiva, whose biography is described in this article, began to write at once in two languages - Belarusian and Russian. His first work in Russian "Lived-were" (feuilleton in verse) was published in 1922 in "Krasnoarmeiskaya Pravda". In the same year in the newspaper "Soviet Belarus" came a satirical poem "Matchmakers" in the Belarusian language. In the mid-1920s, the first collections of Kondrat - "Nettle" and "Osti" appeared.

Now Krapivu is known as a satirical writer, but in fact he tried to write serious stories. Editors praised him, but published only satire. And readers can observe this duality in the whole work of Nettles.

Until 1926, Kondrat was a member of the literary association "Maladnyak", and then moved to "Uzvyshsha."

At the beginning of his career, Krapiva tried to master the prose genre, creating feuilletons. But then abandoned this activity.

In all the magazines where Kondrat worked as an editor, he defended the Belarusian language. Any of his criticism was mocked. On this subject, the writer even has a fable called "Goat".

Nettles made many translations. He translated Shevchenko, Tvardovsky, Mayakovsky, Chekhov, Ostrovsky, Gogol, Pushkin, Krylov, Fonvizin, Shakespeare and many others into the Belarusian language.

Kondrat wrote for the rest of his life. He postponed the typewriter only when his vision deteriorated. His last melodramatic work "At the height of" the writer finished at the age of 86 years.
