Kaliningrad, Plant "Yantar": history, production, products

JSC "Yantar" - a shipyard in Kaliningrad, located in the ice-free harbor. The basis of his activity is the construction, maintenance and repair of warships. Also orders are fulfilled for the manufacture of scientific research, transport, rescue vessels, ferries, fishing trawlers, highly saturated hulls for third-party customers. It is part of the subholding "Western Machine Building Center".

Historical reference

The Kaliningrad plant "Yantar" has its history from the Prussian company "Union Gizery", founded in 1826. The enterprise in those years carried out a wide range of metalworking and metalworking works. Here, ships, bridges, metal structures, locomotives, cranes, brewing equipment and so on were manufactured.

After a century of successful work, the company went bankrupt because of the worldwide economic crisis in 1929. Production facilities were bought by the German company "Shihau" and assembled warships.

After the capture by the Soviet troops of Koenigsberg, the plant organized plant No. 820, later renamed the Yantar plant. Kaliningrad, thus, became a major shipbuilding center in the Baltic.

Description

Today the plant has a fairly stable position. Contracts with the Russian Navy presuppose the assembly of eight warships (six frigates and two BDKs), which allowed loading capacities for several years ahead. The project of construction and equipping of the unique oceanographic research vessel "Yantar" was successfully completed.

At the enterprise 1200 executive workers work, as a whole the collective totals the order 3000 persons (not including counterparts). The vacancies of the Yantar factory (Kaliningrad) are filled at the expense of the graduates of the Kaliningrad Technical University and the Baltic Shipbuilding College.

The production area is huge - 83 hectares. Only one outfitting quay extends to 1.46 km. The water channel of the 8 m deep canal allows to remove from the territory of the enterprise to the open sea a boat with a length of up to 200 m and a width of 35 m. Kaliningrad plant "Yantar" is equipped with two large stacking complexes that allow assembling vessels with a displacement of 12,000 tons.

Production

The technological chain of manufacturing of cases begins with the manufacture of metal structures and consists of the following stages:

  • Preliminary processing of metal;
  • Manufacturing of parts, blanks;
  • Subsequent assembly and welding.

The material from which the hull of the ship is built comes and unfolds in the open warehouse of the rolling section, then it goes to the production line of the sheet shotblasting, it is cleaned and grounded.

Then, the metal ready for processing, as necessary, goes either to the gas cutting line or to the closed storage. On the gas cutting section, parts are produced from it and sent either to the assembly site or to the bending (depending on the vessel design). A part of the parts is made on the cold working complex of sheet metal, the other - in the cold section of profile metal. All the details end up on the assembly site, where they are sorted, laid out in sections and sent to the assembly. It is conducted by teams of installers in the section of welding sections and in the assembly of foundations and small metal structures.

Modernization

The program of technical re-equipment, implemented at the Yantar factory in Kaliningrad, enabled the company's machine-tool park to be refilled. First of all, the equipment was purchased for machine-building and pipe-bending industries. In shop 41, 97 units of new machinery and equipment were put into operation. The park of machine-building production was replenished with 22 machines.

KAMAZ trucks were purchased with cargo capacity of 5 and 15 tons, a KamAZ dump truck with a lifting capacity of 15 tons, a KamAZ truck crane with a lifting capacity of 25 tons, excavators, and municipal equipment. Appeared in the arsenal of the plant and an Italian ship trailer for the transportation of sections.

Warships

In recent years, the Yantar plant in Kaliningrad has been carrying out orders for the construction of six "watchdogs" for the project 11356 and two BDK (Large landing craft), item 11711 for the Russian Navy. From 2006 to 2013, the guard ships of paragraph 11356 were collected for Indian colleagues.

The pride of the plant is SCR "Neustrashimy". On March 25, 1987, the construction of a series of the project 11540 began on the Kaliningrad stocks. During the years of service, Neustrashimy was more than once recognized as the best ship on the Baltic Fleet. Since 2008, his team has repeatedly fought with Somali pirates. In 2010 and 2015 years. The enterprise carried out the overhaul of the combat ship. The specialists of the enterprise replaced the afterburner engines, auxiliary diesel generators, repaired all the basic systems of the "Fearless": electric, fire-fighting, drainage, fuel, control systems and automation. Armaments have also been modernized.

Civil shipbuilding

This is one of the promising areas of the enterprise. Today the plant has the opportunity to get into the construction of ferries an entirely new project. The Expert Council for Water Transport approved a car / rail / passenger ferry-boat ferry of an unlimited navigation area for the Vanino-Kholmsk route. This is the project CNF11CPD of the Marine Engineering Bureau.

By the way, the plant already has experience in building such ferries. For almost twenty years, since 1973, the enterprise has built ten ferries of the Sakhalin type just for opening the Vanino-Kholmsk line. Three of them are still carrying cargo and passengers.
