Jordan, visa: necessary documents, features of receipt and recommendations

Jordan is a new, yet not very popular destination for tourists. That is why it is interesting for travelers who are already fed up with Egypt, Turkey and Thailand. Authentic nature, Dead Sea and oriental flavor - all this is Jordan. You will need a visa to visit this country.

What attracts Jordan?

Jordan is an Arab state located in the Middle East. In the north the country borders on Syria and Iraq, from the east and south it is surrounded by Saudi Arabia. In the west are Israel and the state of Palestine.

The nature of this country is not rich in delights - about 90% of the entire area of the kingdom is occupied by deserts or, at best, semi-deserts.

However, it is also very attractive for tourists from all over the world. First of all, it is coral reefs and beaches, as well as one of the new wonders of the world - Peter. It is an ancient city, which is located at an altitude of over 900 meters above sea level. Therefore, many decide that the best place for an unforgettable holiday is Jordan. The visa is issued quite simply.

Jordanian visa

Fortunately, Jordan has rules for issuing visas, the same as for a trip to Turkey or Egypt, when a one-time tourist visa can be issued right at the airport upon arrival. It is only necessary to pay its value.

So to answer the question that torments many travelers - whether a visa is needed to Jordan - can be unequivocally: yes. Once at the airport, the capital of Amman, where most of the aircraft with tourists come, including from Russia, you need to show a foreign passport in order to get permission to visit the country. A prerequisite is that it must be valid for at least six months. Otherwise, you may have serious problems with customs officials, up to the point that you will not be allowed into the country.

On the forget, that though everything happens in a simplified mode, you still have to pay. The cost of a visa to Jordan for Russians will be equivalent to about $ 30.

In some cases, you may also be asked to present a document confirming the fact of booking a hotel in Jordan in the city in which you plan to stay in order to obtain a tourist visa. Or an invitation sent to you by the host.

Problems with registration of visas

If you decide that the country for your holiday is Jordan, a visa will be asked from you. It can be issued at any border checkpoint with a single exception.

So, problems with obtaining an entry permit may arise if you go to a border control point on the main road between Jordan and Israel. It's called Allenby. It is on the road from Amman to the capital of the neighboring state - Jerusalem. Here visas are not issued. This border crossing is intended exclusively for residents of the state of Palestine, who move from Jordan to the West Bank, or follow the way back.

Foreign citizens can use this transition only if they have an open visa.

Features of border crossing zones

So, your dream came true, and you got to the kingdom of Jordan. Do you need a visa for Russians, you have already figured out. Now it remains to decide whether all the checkpoints can be passed freely. There are subtleties here.

If you are traveling to the country through a free economic zone (it is most convenient to enter through Aqaba) and the duration of your trip will not be more than a month, then you can issue a tourist visa for free.

However, leaving the country, it will be possible to use only a certain list of checkpoints. Only those who are also within the free economic zone. In addition to Aqaba, this is a checkpoint in Arawa, on the border with neighboring Israel, in Hakle, located on the border with Saudi Arabia.

Visa to Jordan for free

There is another way without money to issue a visa to the Kingdom of Jordan. A visa for Russians will be free if you enter the territory of the state through a border zone located outside of Aqaba, but you are obliged within two days to get to this locality.

This is by law. In practice, border guards often refuse to issue a free visa for you, despite all the assurances and confirmations that you are traveling to Aqaba, to the territory of the free economic zone. By the way, in case of refusal you will have to pay the amount, the same as when crossing other border crossings.

Through Jordan transit

When you enter the Kingdom of Jordan, a visa for you can be free if you used the international airport of Amman as a transit. And during the day plan to fly to another country.

To use this option, you need to provide your ticket for the next flight at the information desk at Amman Airport, which is responsible for arranging transit and transfers. In this case, you will be issued a special voucher indicating the specific number of your transit flight.

At the point of control of documents, you must present your passport, and you will be stamped in the ticket issued earlier. This document will be enough to leave the airport and go to get acquainted with the city's sights. The only condition that must be met is that you must return to the airport within a day after you have issued the transit ticket. Not later.

If you break this rule, you will be fined. The amount is impressive - about 70 US dollars.

Also do not forget that this scheme works only if your further journey is by plane, not by other transport. If you decide to fly to Amman and then go to Syria or Saudi Arabia by bus or car, then for this you will need to issue a visa according to all the rules. Even if the period of stay in the country does not exceed one day.

Visa at the consulate

If you asked yourself whether you need a visa to Jordan in Russia, you can apply for it at the consulate and do not waste time at the airport.

Representation of the Kingdom of Jordan is located in Moscow. To obtain permission to enter the country, you must provide a package of documents:

  • Your foreign passport;
  • One photo - its size should be the same as in the document;
  • Questionnaire - it must be filled in English or Arabic;
  • Also required to pay a consular fee.

The cost of a one-time visa is about 30 dollars. For a double it will be necessary to lay out just under 50, and for multiple - more than 90 US dollars.

If the children are inscribed in your passport, you do not need to pay for them separately. The exception is made only by minors who follow their own travel document.

In the Jordanian Embassy, as a rule, a visa is issued quickly. This takes no more than three working days.

How far is the visa issued?

If you issue a single or double entry visa, then this document is valid for three months. In this country, you can stay in this period for no more than 30 days. Multiple gives more freedom of movement - it operates for six months.

Despite the fact that Jordan and Israel have a complicated relationship, no notes in your passport that you visited the promised land will not prevent you from obtaining a visa to the named kingdom.
