Musk ducks, otherwise called as indo-ducks, are very productive poultry. Indots, whose breeding can be mastered by everyone, are considered the most unpretentious representatives of the duck kingdom. Such a bird can have up to 10 species of color, four of which are monophonic (white, brown, black, and blue), the rest - mixed. It is widely believed that productivity depends on color. Practice shows that with proper care, you can get good performance in ducks of any color.

The homeland of this species of ducks is South America. Despite the fact that this bird is often called an indoctuary, it does not have a relationship with a turkey. It represents a separate species of woody duck and differs from the usual waterfowl for us. Such a bird is wonderful without a pond. Its name was received because of the sharp musky smell that is inherent in drakes in the mating season. In European countries it is called barbaric and warty, and also Indian and dumb. There are other names.

Drains are significantly larger than females and their weight with good feeding and grooming can reach up to 7 kg. The meat of this bird is also different. It is not fat, but more lean and it is referred to dietary meat.

In nature, there are crossbreeds between musk and ordinary ducks. They are called mullards, and they have no offspring. Mullards outperform their parents, both by weight and by the quality of meat.

For breeding, you must have one drake for 4 or 5 females. The egg-lay of a musk duck reaches 120 eggs per year. Eggs of medium size. They weigh 70-90 g. Such eggs are stored up to 18 days. This circumstance makes it possible to optimize the collection of eggs for a bookmark in the incubator. The absence of death of young animals or a very slight case is famous for musk ducks. Breeding them is therefore considered beneficial. You can do without even using the incubator, since the Indotka is very good at incubating the young. Only the turkey is better than her.

Very unpretentious and rather quiet birds are Indotka. Breeding them is therefore not very difficult even for a beginner poultry breeder. Dykes publish only a hiss. Ducks can quack only in the event that something is very frightened. In other cases, they only rumble. Due to the tranquility inherent in this bird, it is sometimes bred as decorative. It looks great on any lawn, or near a decorative pond. Usually such a duck does not try to fly, but there are exceptions. In such cases, you just have to cut your wings and the bird will stop trying to fly from one place to another.

Among all the ducks, the less demanding of the amount of food is made by Indotka. Breeding such a less voracious bird is more cost-effective, because there is less feed consumption. The truth and intensity of growth of this bird is slightly smaller. But still a unit of weight gain will require less food. The daily feed norm for adult musk ducks is 160-210 g of concentrates. For comparison, the same Peking duck will need 240-300g. Both musky and Peking ducks are very unpretentious in food. They can eat any food.

When keeping a musk duck in winter, unheated rooms should be equipped with a good litter material. At the same time, it must be dry. Dry sawdust is suitable for this purpose. Nezhenka can not call such birds as indotki. Breeding with winter content in a warm, and even a lighted room significantly improves their productivity. With a good bird content, she can begin egg-laying at the end of January.

Good competition with a musky duck is made by a Peking duck, which is also easy to breed and quite profitable. It should be remembered that these are two completely different species of birds.
