Hygroma of foot. Type of neoplasm and methods of treatment

Hygroma is a round, benign tumor of jelly-like content that forms in the near-articular region.

Cellular composition - mucus and fibrins.

Typical places are feet, joints, head, fingers, arms, legs.

Size - diameter - 2-5 cm.

Consistency - dense, mobile and elastic.

Why does a joint hygroma occur?

Medical statistics have identified the following reasons that contribute to the emergence of gigrom:

- inflammation of the joint or periarticular area;

- trauma;

- Strong load;

- bursitis;

- long, monotonous work with fingers - seamstresses, masseurs, pianists, programmers;

- narrow shoes - from the prolonged rubbing of the feet and calluses, a foot hygroma arises;

As a percentage of cases, the hygroma is most often formed in men. The hygroma of the hand is a professional disease of programmers and persons whose activities are associated with a lengthy set of texts on the computer.

Sometimes the cause of the appearance of the tumor can not be established, the joint hygroma can occur for no apparent reason.

How to behave on the body of a hygroma

The tumor appears imperceptibly, does not bother, grows slowly. Gradually increasing, begins to whine after physical work, slightly restricts movement in the joint. Hygroma of the foot is characterized by pronounced pain syndrome with walking. It is easily injured - falling, rubbing clothes or careless movement can lead to the leakage of the contents inside the joint or rupture of the skin on top of the lesion. Through the formed wound infection easily penetrates. On the spot where one hygroma has burst, several new tumors may form.

Delete or not

Indications for the removal of the tumor are:

- severe discomfort;

- rapid growth of the hygroma;

- frequent lopane, injury.

Due to the fact that the tumor in most cases recurs after conservative treatment - especially the hygroma of the foot, surgical removal is considered the most reliable way to eliminate it. For the operation, local anesthesia is used. Sutures are removed on the 5th-7th day. After removal of the synovial cavity of the hygroma, the joint no longer grows.

A modern method of removing neoplasms of this type is laser burning. Compared to other treatments, the laser has the following advantages:

- does not damage adjacent tissues;

- almost does not leave scars;

- disinfects the wound;

- does not cause complications;

- the wound surface heals quickly.

Conservative methods of treatment with gigroma can be used only at the initial stage of neoplasm. Such are: warming up with medical paraffin, mud, irradiation with ultraviolet, introduction of corticosteroids. Such treatment will be successful only after elimination of the factors provoking the appearance of the tumor - physical activity, friction, monotonous joint work.

Folk remedies against hygromes - compresses, rubs and lotions. For this purpose use: cabbage leaf, sea salt, wormwood, honey, beef bile, juice of a golden mustache, kerosene, calendula, gum, aloe. Without the doctor's approval, it is not necessary to engage in such treatment, so as not to aggravate the situation.

The hygroma of the foot or other part of the joint does not degenerate into cancer. It delivers only physical discomfort and has an unsightly appearance. In the initial stage of the disease, one should try conservative treatment. If the tumor grows quickly and hurts, then there is no way to do without surgery.
