How to install a mixer in the bathroom or in the kitchen?

The answer to the question of how to install a faucet in the bathroom will not cause much difficulty, even if you are not a professional plumber. The process is fairly simple and does not take much time.

Preparing to install the mixer in the bathroom

If you install a new mixer in place of the old one, then you can not puzzle yourself by choosing the installation site. If you are building a new apartment or house, you can include fantasy and think of any place to install a mixer. Do it better at the design stage of the bathroom, so that if necessary, adjust the piping of water pipes. The main thing is that the installed mixer is easy to use and harmoniously fit into the overall interior of the bathroom.

Tools

It is necessary to prepare the tools, the mixer that we will install, and the workstation. Do not forget to block the cold and hot water entering the apartment. Before installing the mixer in the bathroom, you need to prepare a number of tools. This is the adjustable wrench with which we will twist the mixer nuts, the wrench with which we screw the eccentrics, the strand of flax (which can be smeared with sealant), the tow or the FUM tape.

How to install a mixer in the bathroom?

Before installing a new mixer it is necessary to first dismantle. Remove the old mixer gently, so as not to damage the thread and the pipes themselves. If the water pipes are metal, perhaps Soviet times, then it is better before tapping the old mixer to tap them a little at the junction points to bring down the stagnant calcareous plaque.

Next, look how much the distance between the outlets and the holes on the mixer coincides. Often they do not coincide.

This problem is easily solved by eccentric adapters. One side of them is intended for connection with a water pipe, and the second - for connection with a mixer. Before screwing eccentrics, be sure to use sealing materials. Twist them a bit so as not to overdo it. If the pipes are made of metal, nothing particularly terrible will happen, and the extra sealant will simply squeeze out. And if we screw into a polypropylene fitting, then with an excess of sealing material it can crack.

It is also important to twist the eccentrics to an equal depth so that there is no further distortion. After the adapters are installed, we put on them decorative cups that cover and mask the connection points of the outlet nozzles.

Then, under the nuts, install the gaskets and, not hurrying up, simultaneously twist the nuts of the mixer itself. Do it better with your hands, until it stops, and then quite a bit, literally half a turn, turn the key, but so as not to scratch the surface of the mixer. To do this, place a small piece of cloth under the key or wrap the edges of the wrench with a thin layer of electrical tape (2-3 turns).

So we installed a new wall-mounted bathroom faucet . Now you can screw the shower hose and gander (if any is included). And finally we attach the holder for the shower hose at the required height.

At the end of the work, it is necessary to check the working condition of the mixer. Feed water and check for leaks in the joints. By the way, it is better to use seals and gaskets, which are included in the product package.

Select mixer

And just a few words about the correct choice of mixer. All mixers are divided into valve and ball valves.

Valve faucets are more familiar to us, they are easier to maintain and repair. They are suitable for water of any quality, including chlorinated water. However, it takes a little longer to adjust the water to the desired temperature, and after a while it is necessary to change the gasket.

The faucets are easier to operate - just raise the handle and literally adjust the water temperature in a single movement. But they are very sensitive to the quality of water and the presence of the smallest particles-impurities in it, which can disrupt the mixer. The repair is quite expensive, and you can hardly do it yourself.

By purchasing cheap bathroom faucets, you risk changing them with an enviable regularity. If there is no way to purchase an expensive mixer of a known brand, then pay attention to at least the following parameters. A quality mixer can not be light in weight, this suggests that it is made of a low-quality alloy. At the ball valve, the spread of the handle in the sides should not be large, nor should it be accompanied by creaks and rigid friction. Therefore, before you install the mixer in the bathroom, make the right choice.

Install the mixer in the kitchen

The installation of the mixer in the kitchen is somewhat different from the same work in the bathroom. Usually the mixer in the kitchen is installed on the sink, less often - on the wall. Consider an example when you need to install a new faucet in the sink.

So, how to install a mixer in the kitchen? The first thing we do is fix the flexible hoses directly to the mixer. It will be correct if you pre-lubricate the carving with solidol or graphite grease, and then screw it. Ensure that there is a rubber gasket in place of the mixer attachment to the sink.

Carefully thread the hoses into the hole for installing the crane, and install the same gasket from the bottom of the sink.

The studs (one or two, depending on the mixer design) are treated with grease. Now we put the fixing washer and fix everything by means of the nuts and the fixing screw, without tightening it to the end. Then we put the tap in the right direction and tighten the screw to the end.

Take work!

It remains to connect the flexible hoses with the water pipes, tightening the nuts with a wrench (nut or swivel), and check the tightness of the mixer by supplying water.

Now you know how to install the correct mixer. As you can see, there is nothing complicated in the installation process. The main thing is to carefully and consistently perform all the steps of the process and get pleasure from the quality work done by yourself.
