How to configure the router to a novice user?
Switching
So, how to configure the router in-house? The first stage consists of the correct connection. First, connect the power supply. The box together with the plug is connected to the outlet. And the wire is installed in the appropriate "seat" on the back of the router. Next, we find the yellow connector there and connect the wire from the provider to it. At least, most manufacturers distinguish it from the others. Then you need to connect a twisted pair, one end of which fits any of the blue "seats" of the router, and connect the other end to a computer or laptop. Then you need to check the correctness of the switching and, if it's okay, you can turn on the power button (it's usually on the back side). We described the first stage of how to configure the router ("ASUS" or any other manufacturer). Next comes the software configuration.
Work with software
Each router comes bundled with a CD, on which a software module is recorded to configure it. But the developers went further. An alternative embodiment of this operation is that you can use a browser to parameterize such network equipment. It is on the second option we will stop our choice, because it is more universal. With it, you can both configure the Wi Fi router ASUS, and the device of another manufacturer. First, start the browser installed on your PC (for example, Internet Explorer). In its address line, type "192.168.1.1" and press the "Enter" button. After the done manipulations, a window will appear in which you need to enter your login and password. For the production "ASUS" this will be the same line - admin. But for Zyxel values are different. The login is the same as that of the previous manufacturer, and the password is "1234". For the rest of the product, you need to look at the documentation for it, in which you can find this information. Next, you need to add the following values to the router:
- Set the network name;
- Put password on it with encryption level WPA2;
- If necessary, then select the range of work and possible values for the addresses of the device.
Save the changes made and reload it. Now the network is configured and can work.
Conclusion
This article is devoted to how to configure a router. This is quite possible even for a novice user. In short, it all comes down to organizing the right connection, going to the "Settings" menu and setting the network name, and the password for accessing it. All other parameters remain in most cases by default, and this is quite enough for normal operation.
