How the Marines Day is celebrated in Russia

The day of the Marine Corps is associated with the events of 1705 and the creation of the Russian fleet back in the days of Peter the Great. The main purpose of the establishment of the national marines was the desire of the emperor to break through to the Baltic and Azov seas and establish ports, and the first marines of Russia were considered to be the teams of archers who were among the crew of each flotilla since the time of Ivan the Terrible. In modern Russia, the Marines Day is celebrated on November 27. The holiday is held less solemnly than the Airborne Forces Day, and the majority of Russians take no part in the solemn events.

History : The first team of professional "sea soldiers" in the Russian State appeared back in 1669 on the orders of Peter I, and its foundation was the crew of the famous ship "Eagle". But the official date of the appearance of the Marine Corps is considered to be November 27, 1705, as this day is dated the order of Peter the Great, which contains a line about the need to create "regiments of sea soldiers." In any case, this division of the national troops has been functioning smoothly for three centuries, and the Day of the Marine Corps of Russia is celebrated today on the same date the emperor signed the relevant decree.

Russian Marines, which are an integral part of the crew of the Russian fleet, during the 18th and 19th centuries fought almost continuously, taking part in the hardest battles in the Baltic and Black, White and Mediterranean seas. The structure of the infantry was constantly improved, for example, in 1810 the Guards Marine Crew appeared, whose task included the effective landing of the sea assault in the battlefields and behind the enemy lines.

Marines in the USSR : After the Revolution, the Day of the Marine Corps was not celebrated, and about the heroic deeds of servicemen in the navy, the infantrymen were practically never remembered until 1939, and even a special division of the Marines in those years did not exist at all. Only in 1939, on the eve of World War II, the Soviet government decided to revive such military units. By 1941, the number of marines in the USSR was already about 500,000, and quite often infantrymen took part even in land battles, for which they were removed from ships.

However, by the 1960s, the marine infantry in the USSR was again liquidated, although in the United States, the main enemy of the Soviet Union, such units functioned, and their strength was approximately 200,000. Therefore, in 1963, the units of marines in the USSR are reborn, the Guards Bialystok Regiment was first founded, and later - other units.

Contemporary history : Today, the Russian marines have a total of 12,500 professional military personnel trained to land on a certain, original designated territory, and are able to quickly prepare a foothold before the arrival of the main military units. Marines reliably guard the water borders of Russia, and also take part in various operations at sea and on land, which have to lead the Russian army.

Features : The Day of the Marine Corps can be regarded as a holiday that draws the attention of Russians to the most important role in strengthening the power of the state, which marines have been playing for centuries. Congratulations on the day of the Marine Corps on this day sound from the command, but large-scale events are not held, and most of the infantrymen often celebrate their well-deserved professional holiday in a narrow circle - with colleagues or with the family. Congratulating each other, infantrymen recall the exploits of their predecessors, received awards, comrades-in- arms and commanders, but parades and demonstrations were not held that day.
