Furuncle in the ear: prevention and treatment

Furuncle is called acute inflammation of the hair sac, sebaceous gland, accompanied by inflammation of the surrounding fiber. At the beginning of furuncle development there is a dense, painful nodule of bright red color, whose diameter is about 5-20 mm. It rises above the skin in the form of a small cone. After 3-4 days in the center of inflammation formed softened area, the so-called purulent head. After that there is a breakthrough of the furuncle with purulent secretions. Together with pus and blood comes a piece of dead tissue - the rod of the boil. The healing process begins approximately in 2-3 days. As a result, a scar is formed at the site of the breakthrough.

The furuncle in the ear is formed in the same way as in other places. It arises, mainly, in the cartilaginous part of the external auditory canal, where the hairs grow and the sebaceous glands are located . The main reasons for the appearance of the furuncle in the ear are most often microtraumas of the skin with foreign objects - hairpins, matches, nails, etc. An infection that penetrates into the holes of the sebaceous glands and hair sacs enters the formed wound. After that, the inflammatory process starts immediately, the result of which is the appearance of a furuncle in the ear. The main symptom during the formation of the boil is a strong throbbing pain. She can give in the jaw, in the region of the temples, in some cases there is a general headache, painful sensations during closing and opening the mouth. In the patient's ear, a buzzing occurs, hearing impairment may occur due to a furuncle overlapping the auditory canal. At night, pain intensifies, insomnia, deterioration of general condition. In some cases, a slight increase in temperature is observed.

When a furuncle is formed in the ear, the treatment must be performed by a doctor without fail.

To treat such an adversity, as a furuncle in the ear, injections of antibiotics are used. In the auditory passage, special gauze tampons with anesthetizing, warming compounds are administered, and physiotherapy is performed. After applying tampons, all organic residues of purulent discharge are removed from the ear. On a wound in a place of an exit of pus do or make powders antibiotics (in a powder). For internal reception prescribe anesthetizing medicines, at the raised temperature antibiotics. When carrying out physiotherapeutic procedures, the greatest effect is obtained by ultraviolet irradiation and heating. In some cases, with timely treatment, the treatment of the boil can go without an abscess. The patient's condition improves immediately after the release of pus. Operations in such cases are rare, only with complications, the formation of an abscess. In the absence of complications, recovery occurs approximately in 6-7 days.

Since ancient times, the treatment of furuncles in the ear, and not only, was carried out by folk remedies (the abscesses then had the name of spindles, boils, and others).
