Flux AN47: properties, application

Flux AN47 is a popular material that is widely used in welding operations to protect the joint formation zone from environmental influences, improve the quality of joints and chemical cleaning of surfaces. This component is used for forging and gas welding. The application of the material on the surface leads to the formation of a protective layer, which becomes a fertile basis for the dissolution of oxides, which are formed on welded elements.

Appointment

The flux А47 is used to connect surfaces, structural parts of low-alloy and carbon steels, which are operated under high and low temperatures. Particularly suitable material for the necessary arrangement:

  • Heavy bridge structures.
  • Oil and gas pipelines with pipe connections of considerable diameter.
  • Thick-walled columns of reactors, where it is required to ensure not only the highest resistance to the destruction of metal as a result of the influence of aggressive chemical factors, but also the high impact strength of the joints.

Flux AN47 basic promotes the formation of compounds of high purity according to nonmetallic inclusions. This base significantly improves the stability of joints in the arrangement of thick-walled surfaces and significant loads on the structure.

Properties

Since the flux AN47 allows you to create high-quality, stable arcs, it is used to use it when you need to perform the most accurate joints. The result of the application of the material is the formation of smooth transitions at the junctions to the base metal.

Flux has a low tendency to cracking and all kinds of pores in the thickness of welded joints. This base demonstrates a good separation of the slag crust.

Flux AN47 is characterized by the following characteristics:

  • The shade of grains is black, dark brown.
  • The structure is vitreous.
  • The grain size is from 0.25 to 2.5 mm.
  • Bulk density - up to 1.8 kg / dm 3 .

Security

Work with flux during packaging, sorting, transportation, directly performing welding activities is accompanied by a significant release of chemical dust, which contains potentially hazardous siliceous, fluoride, manganese compounds. Therefore, when handling materials, the use of personal protective equipment is of utmost importance : work clothes, respirators, glasses, gauze dressings, and mittens.

In relation to human exposure, flux dust is characterized by an average level of toxicity. Penetration of the chemical basis into the body through the skin, respiratory organs, mucous membranes causes extremely unpleasant irritations, not to mention more serious consequences with regular, prolonged contact with the material.
