Female selection in white

Female discharge is normal for all healthy women, if they are colorless and do not have an unpleasant smell. The change in consistency, color and odor of discharge may indicate the presence of various diseases. What does the allocation of white color mean and is there any cause for concern?

During the menstrual cycle, the vaginal discharge of a healthy woman often changes its consistency and color, but if there is a copious discharge of white, this may indicate the presence of a serious inflammatory process in the body. The change in color of discharge (whitening) is influenced by many other factors, sometimes not directly related to health. So slight discharge of whitish color can be observed with prolonged wearing of the contraceptive cap on the cervix and syringing with various disinfectant solutions. Sometimes such leucorrhoea occur even when wearing tight underwear and so-called "thongs". Beli often appear when the vaginal walls are lowered, ruptures in the perineum and with constipation. Female discharge in white is often accompanied by unpleasant odors and itching of the mucous membrane of the vagina. This condition is also characteristic of various infectious diseases.

There are also situations in which the allocation of whitish color does not pose a cause for concern. In the cases listed, their appearance is the norm:

- appearance of white discharge after unprotected sex, due to the presence of male seminal fluid in the vagina;

- creamy lean whitish discharge after sex (protected and unprotected), caused by the production of a large amount of vaginal lubrication;

- liquid whitish discharge, reminiscent of the color of milk, observed during pregnancy and increasing with the duration (they do not smell and do not cause itching in the genital area).

Very characteristic discharges (sour-like or curdled) are observed in vaginal candidiasis (thrush), caused by fungi of the genus Candida. They have a yeast smell. Off-white discoloration can be observed in bacterial vaginosis. The brief appearance of opaque leucorrhoea, passing with time, is in itself an occasion for a visit to the gynecologist, as they can indicate the occurrence and flow of various diseases in the body of a woman. The faster the cause of their occurrence is identified, the faster it is possible to cure the disease and prevent complications. Self-medication can not be dealt with, because similar symptoms can occur in diseases caused by completely different causes.

White discharge similar to mucus or clear discharge with whitish streaks, most often appearing at the very end of the cycle or just before menstruation, can indicate such diseases as cervicitis (inflammatory process in the cervical canal of the uterus) and erosions of the cervix. Allocations of mucus are characteristic for all diseases associated with the cervix.

White or white-greenish and white-grayish white, having a characteristic fishy smell are characteristic for dysbiosis of the vagina (gardnerelleza).

With various inflammatory and infectious diseases, white discharge has an acidic odor. The diagnosis is differentiated on the basis of laboratory tests and examination of the doctor.

The diagnosis is made during gynecological examination, carrying out the analysis of the smear from the vagina. In some cases, the diagnosis is made and based on the results of ultrasound.
