Born Eugene Delacroix April 26, 1798 in a wealthy family. His father was an official, minister of the Batavian Republic. In 1802, he was transferred to a post in Bordeaux, where the whole family followed him. With his son, he spent some time, as he died when Eugene was about 7 years old. After the death of the head of the family, the future artist with his mother and the rest of the children moves to Paris, where he enters the Lyceum.
