Error "The requested operation requires an increase" (code 740): how to solve the problem?

With the advent of the seventh version of the Windows operating system, many users of computer systems began to face the problem that even with administrator rights on their own terminal or laptop, the system gives an extremely unpleasant message that the error "The requested operation requires an increase". How to interpret it, what it means and how to get rid of this problem, we now look.

Why is there a bug with code 740 in Windows version 7 and higher "The requested operation requires an increase"?

Unfortunately, today very few people know that since the "seven" in Windows operating systems, the function of double possession of admin rights began to be implemented. As it turned out, not only the access rights of the administrator himself (here), but also the rights of the so-called "super administrator" with root privileges of "superuser", received by users of mobile operating systems like Android, play a role here.

That is why either when installing the software, or when running an already installed software, "OSE" does not want to perform certain actions that can make critical changes to system files. And that's why the warning "The requested operation requires an increase" is issued as a warning, indicating that the user activating a certain process does not have sufficient rights to change the system configuration. However, this situation can be rectified, and in a few simple ways.

The easiest way to fix the problem

As many people probably know, the system has a special context menu line for running programs and applications on behalf of the administrator. What is most interesting, even to the admin it has to be used in case of problems.

In fact, this command also activates the hidden account of the "super administrator". In this case, even at the stage of the usual installation, the appearance of a message with the text "The requested operation requires an increase" is very likely. In this case, as is already clear, you first need to install the program using the startup line of the executable file on behalf of the administrator, and if the system subsequently issues such a warning, you will also have to run the application already installed.

Runas command error "The requested operation requires enhancement"

Now let's look at the runas command, which is used in the Run menu, or (which is much more common) on the command line itself (cmd). This command allows you to run any program or command on behalf of another user of the computer system. As it is already clear, if there is no "super administrator" right, this may not work.

That in the first, that in the second situation, constantly using the launch menu on behalf of the admin is not always convenient. To do this, you need to change some parameters so that the warning "Requested operation requires an increase" does not appear at all. If the failure is associated with the corruption of the file itself or its components, you will need to use utilities such as DLL Suite to fix it, and then do further actions.

Uninstalling the "account" of the administrator

The most effective method is to remove the "account" of the admin. Do not be scared, because there's nothing wrong with that.

So, go to the computer menu and select the control section (for example, Windows 7), where in the section of local users select the line "Users". Now on the right we go into the properties of the administrator's entry and put a tick in front of the delete line. After this procedure, the "super administrator" record will be automatically activated, and you can enter it without rebooting the system (just use the user change command when logging out).

Disabling User Account Control

However, if there is a warning "The requested operation requires an increase", this is far from all solutions that help get rid of this error.

For example, you can use the disabling of checking all "accountants" in general. To do this, use the accounts section in the Control Panel, where the options menu is selected. There is a special slider, which must be rearranged to the lowest position corresponding to the "Never notify" mode.

Conclusion

However, this is far from all methods that can be used to solve a problem of this type. It goes without saying that, in addition to changing the settings of the local Group Policy, you can perform similar actions in the Registry Editor. However, the procedure there is much more complicated, since you will have to use specially created parameters with assigning them certain values. But in general, as practice shows, to eliminate such errors it is quite enough that was described above.
