Karan Johar is a symbolic figure of modern Indian cinema. Such films as "Everything in Life Happens", "Both in Sorrow and in Joy" made the director famous not only in India, but also abroad. He also successfully engaged in producing activities, writing scripts and sometimes acting in films. What is known about this man, was his path to fame long?

Karan Johar: biography of the star

The fate of the boy, born in Mumbai in 1972, was practically predetermined. His father already at the time of the birth of his son was held as a famous producer, the mother left for the family successfully developing acting career. Not surprisingly, Karan Johar from childhood dreamed of linking life with the world of cinema, which he literally knew from the inside. However, those around him were convinced that a restless child with obvious makings of a lyceum would become a popular actor. As it turned out, they were wrong.

Dreams about fame did not prevent the child from being a diligent student. First of all Karan Johar was interested in foreign languages, culture of other states. Even in high school he mastered the French language, which later received a master's degree, graduating from a prestigious Indian college. Strongly engaged, he found time for entertainment, the future director from an early age had many friends. Such a trait, as sociability, this person will keep and in adulthood, his parties for many years will bring together the brightest stars of Bollywood.

Shooting at the cinema

Karan Johar does not belong to the number of people who had to earn popularity for years. The first achievement of the young man was a small role played by him in the film "The Unsuspicious Bride". His hero was called Rocky, he was a friend of the central character of the drama, in the role of which already acted as the star of Shah Rukh Khan.

It is possible that just then the young man realized that he dreams not to appear in films, but to create them. This did not stop him in the future to do a few more film projects.

"Everything in life happens" (1998)

"Everything in life happens" - a drama, with the help of which he first announced himself as a director Karan Johar. The films he shot after that are loved by the master less than the first "product." It is interesting that the director used a script written independently. The main role went to such a wonderful actor as Shahrukh Khan, who is a close friend of Johar. Drama became the most successful ribbon of the year in India, which is confirmed by the size of the box office. They talked about Karan and outside the country.

The main heroine of the picture was the girl Anjali, at an early age deprived of her mother. Years later, the daughter finds a mother's "testament" - a death letter in which she begs her to arrange her father's happiness. Of course, Anjali takes up the fulfillment of the last will of the deceased. Melodrama with elements of comedy was released in 1998.

"In sorrow and in joy" (2001)

The first success inspired the young director with self-confidence. Already three years after the melodrama "Everything in life happens" took on a new film project Karan Johar. His filmography acquired another drama, dubbed "Both in Sorrow and in Joy." The next creation of the director was presented to the spectator court in 2001. The second product of Dzhokhar has collected in the hire even more than the first, the star of the picture was again Shah Rukh Khan, who played the main role.

The script of the drama Karan again wrote independently. The family of a wealthy businessman, consisting of the head of the family, his wife and two sons, one of which is the receptionist, is in the center of attention. An adopted child disappoints his father by secretly marrying an unsuitable girl. Being expelled from home, he moves with his young wife to England. However, after a few years, his grown-up brother begins to look for him, dreaming of bringing him back to the family.

"Never Say Goodbye" (2006)

It is impossible not to mention the third successful film product, which gave Indian (and not only) viewers Karan Johar. The films made by the director were always successful in terms of box office, the drama "Never Say Goodbye," which he wrote traditionally with his own hand, was no exception. Of course, the image of the central character of the tape was created by the famous Shah Rukh Khan.

Events of the picture are not in India, but in the States, in particular in New York. The main character meets a beautiful maiden, falls in love with her in the first second. However, the girl suffers from endless conflicts in her family, which began from the day of his father's death. She has enough time only to take care of relatives, she never thinks about entertainment. Trying to win the heart of a beauty, the protagonist asks for help from a friend, but he too is fascinated by it.

Of course, other Indian films by Karan Johar were also successful: "My name is Khan", "Says and shows Bombay". Each of them is definitely worth seeing for the audience, who like Bollywood movies.

Personal life

Of course, the fans of the director and journalists are interested not only in his work in the cinema. The most important thing for the press is the question of why Karan Johar did not marry at the age of 43. The personal life of the master remains a mystery, which generates numerous rumors and speculation. There is an opinion that a talented director has an unconventional orientation, he is even credited with a liaison with his beloved actor Shahrukh Khan, who is removed in all his projects.

However, Johar himself categorically denies this fact and asks the curious not to intrude into his personal space.
