But not only people are familiar with this priceless feeling. Strong friendship can arise between a man and his four-legged pet. A lot of books and films are dedicated to warm relations between people and animals. I found this theme in my painting. A vivid example that characterizes the partnership between the child and the dog is the picture of the wonderful Ural painter Yevgeny Shirokov "Friends."

Artist Biography

Born Shirokov Evgeny Nikolaevich in 1931 in the town of Kasli (Chelyabinsk region). Being a pupil of the St. Petersburg Art School (in 1958 he graduated from the Higher Art and Industrial School in Leningrad), he moved to Perm in his youth, where he remained forever. To date, Eugene Nikolayevich is among the most famous painters of the Urals. In 1986 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. He was awarded the Order of Honor, Peter the Great, as well as many medals and certificates of honor.

Despite his advanced age, he is still engaged in teaching activities: he heads the painting department at the Institute of Art and Culture of the city of Perm. Since 1993 he is a professor.

Creativity of Yevgeny Nikolaevich

Today, Shirokov's paintings can be seen in 15 Russian museums, including the famous Tretyakov Gallery. The artist's works refer to the so-called severe style of painting. This current arose in the 50-60s of the last century. Plots of works written in a harsh style, realistically glorified the everyday life of ordinary people. History of creation

There is an opinion that Yevgeny Nikolayevich painted his son on the canvas. The story of the creation of the picture "Friends" Shirokov, therefore, has vital roots. Until 1986 the painting was in the family collection of the painter, then the author presented it to the Perm Art Gallery.

Description of the child

The teenager painted on the canvas is no different from the other boys of the Soviet era. He is dark-haired, swarthy, looking at him about 14 years old. On the hero of the picture is a dark blue summer T-shirt, the same color socks, gray trousers and simple open sandals. Street clothes indicate that he has recently come from somewhere and has not yet had time to change clothes. The artist Shirokov portrayed the boy in a sitting position with his legs crossed. With one hand he leans on the floor, the other - strokes his dog.

The face of a teenager is very sad: his eyes lowered and his pouting lips indicate that he is very upset. It is not known what events spoiled the mood of the owner of the dog. Perhaps he was offended by his peers or punished by his parents, and maybe he got a bad mark at school and is now afraid to admit to this mom and dad.

Faithful dog

The only one the boy can tell about his problems is his four-footed pet. For a child, a dog is not just a pet. She is a true friend who at least does not know how to talk, but always understands and supports her master. The expression on the boy's face shows how much he loves his dog. The animal, as well as the teenager, is the main hero of a picture "Friends". EN Shirokov depicted him in the foreground with the boy, so that the attention of the spectators gets to both characters equally.

It is unknown what kind of dog the dog is in the picture. It is medium-sized, with short black hair and white paws. He masterfully managed to convey all that is in the notion of "friendship". A disinterested and faithful dog does not care who its owner is. He is not interested in the welfare and position in the society of this man. All that the animal needs is caress and care. Feeling good about yourself, the dog will never betray its master. Unfortunately, in the relations between people to meet such sincerity, honesty and unselfishness is infrequent.
