Cosmonautics Day at school

Since October 1, 1980 April 12 is the official Day of Remembrance and is called the World Day of Aviation and Cosmonautics.

Cosmonautics Day is not just and not only a memorable date for Russia. This is the first step, leading humanity into space. Citizens of our country are proud of the fact that our compatriot Yuri Gagarin made the first step.

Cosmonautics Day is an excellent occasion to continue the patriotic and civic education of children of all ages: from first-graders to school graduates. This memorable date will help develop the cognitive interests of students, broaden their horizons, form or maintain a sense of perseverance, the desire to achieve the goal, pride in the accomplishment of their people.

How is it better to organize a day of cosmonautics in school conditions? The scenario is best done in stages. It's good if the celebration takes place within the framework of the Space Week and affects all aspects of school life.

Within the educational process, you can conduct lessons-seminars, scientific conferences, musical and literary lessons. In this context, integrated lessons fit perfectly : physics can be "combined" with music, painting and literature, biology - with history, informatics, military training and mathematics. It is important to make it clear to the adolescents that the conquest of outer space is a great joint work of scientists and employees of various specialties.

Celebrating Cosmonautics Day, you can conduct a lot of extra-curricular activities. Here are some examples of the class hours: "Space exploration", "Russian cosmonauts' squad", "And yet it spins", "From Galileo to our days", etc.

Concerts, literary compositions, contests of presentations or drawings devoted to the history of aviation, to the development of cosmonautics, to people who have contributed to the study of outer space will be appropriate.

Cosmonautics Day in the elementary school can include presentations, competitions for the connoisseur of space, and sports competitions, decorated in the appropriate style.

At one time we held a competition for the elementary school "Master of the Universe". The first floor of the school was decorated "under the space". We used drawings of high school students and junior high school students, posters, collages, installations on the theme "Cosmonautics Day", created by the hands of students. Later, for the best crafts and drawings, the guys received awards. "Flight into space" began from the class. In total, there were eight stops - according to the number of planets in the solar system. Each station was designed in the appropriate style, each had a set of tasks. On Earth it was necessary to sing or dance, on ice Neptune - quickly get dressed, do a series of physical exercises, so as not to freeze. On Mars, children solved problems, on Venus - they searched in the fog of their friends, on Mercury - they made space suits from improvised means.

For successfully completed assignments "astronauts" received cards, the results of which determined the winner.

In the upper classes , a "cosmic" ball-carnival with elements of amateur performance, music and art competitions enjoys popularity.

At the end of the Space Week, the class that won most of the competitions went on a free excursion to the center of space simulators (Novocherkassk). Here, children can try on real spacesuits, sit in a space module, admire a copy of a real spaceship.

Cosmonautics Day is an excellent occasion to develop a positive outlook on the world for the schoolchildren, to develop their horizons.
