Cornices for stretch ceilings: what is important to consider when choosing
Stretch ceilings are gaining increasing popularity. They are beautiful, durable, unusual, diverse, etc. It is possible to list the advantages of this modern finishing material for a long time. However, they have some disadvantages. For example, an easily vulnerable soft ceiling surface presents a certain difficulty for fixing finishing and curtain cornices. If you want to attach the curtain rod to the ceiling, you will have to take care of this in advance, indicating the location of the future fastening of curtains before installing the ceiling. This is due to the fact that under the ceiling cornice it will be necessary to attach the support in the form of wooden racks. Of course, it is better to use a conventional wall bracket made of wood, metal or plastic, the blessing that there are a lot of shapes and designs.
Types of eaves for curtains
Cornices for stretch ceilings can be made invisible. For this, the ceiling fabric is not brought to the wall with the window, but mounted on a special guide, located at some distance. In the resulting ceiling niche fixed cornice-string or a special thin profile for attaching curtains, here you can also build in the LED lighting. Such a hidden cornice looks particularly impressive with a glossy ceiling in which the room's ambiance is reflected both in the watery surface.
Cornices for stretch ceilings, thus, can be very different: wall, ceiling or hidden, and this coating is not at all an obstacle to the implementation of any design idea. Here the main thing is to plan everything in advance and carry out the necessary preparatory work, since after the tension of the ceiling linen the alteration and any changes will be impossible.
Decorative cornices for stretch ceilings
Creating the design of the room, it is important to calculate to the smallest detail all its components. Completeness and special chic of the room give special elements that adorn the stretch ceiling. Which cornice to choose in this case? To simulate stucco moldings, special polyurethane moldings are produced which, with the help of special glue, quickly and easily attach around the perimeter of the room. For a curved ceiling, there are soft, easily curved elements that accept any wavy form.
Polyurethane cornices under tension ceilings (photo on the right) need to choose a certain type. They should have a flat underside and a shape at the top in the form of a shelf. Mount such cornices should only be to the wall, but not to the ceiling, but due to thickening at the top. They perfectly close the gap between the wall and the ceiling.
