To date, the English chef Jamie Oliver is known all over the world for his active professional and social activities. All this allowed him to rush into the bureaucratic whirlpool, fighting for the right of schoolchildren to eat the right food, forming food habits from childhood.

Shortly after his birth, Oliver bought a bar where, from childhood, the boy had the opportunity to observe the work of cooks, help, comprehend the basics. The experience was enough to make young James decide what he wanted to do. He entered college on the profile of "catering", after which he began to sharpen the acquired skills in practice. The work in the Italian restaurant addicted him to Mediterranean cuisine, which combined the maximum simplicity of cooking and exceptional taste. This experience made it clear what exactly Oliver wanted. James threw back all the compound husks in the spirit of "cook the crocodile fillet in copper cauldron, then bury it in the sand and wait 3 days", preferring simple but delicious dishes that can easily be cooked in the home kitchen.

To bring his point of view to the townsfolk he managed in the late 90's, thanks to the air force, which launched the television program "Naked Cook." In this project, the cook Oliver James told and showed people how to cook tasty, healthy food without spending half a day in the kitchen. His activities were based on three provisions:

  • Use of seasonings;

Why is the cook naked? Because it tells and shows the whole process of cooking without concealment, trying to convey all the specifics of cooking to the audience.

His activity became a landmark for the people of Great Britain - that's when they began to seriously think about what they eat, took a great interest in cooking, watching how Oliver cooks. James did not limit himself to TV, releasing a series of books with recipes, thereby launching on the wave of his popularity the propaganda of a healthy diet and attention to what is on your plate.

What chef will do without his institution? Jamie did not suffer half-measures and launched a grand project - the international chain of restaurants Jamie's Italian, which became an ode to his love of Mediterranean cuisine.

There are representative offices in Russia, so that the inhabitants of the country can try what James Oliver was lovingly creating. The restaurant operates on well-adjusted technological maps, and the taste of the dishes does not leave visitors indifferent.

He drove through the kitchens of educational institutions, inspecting the contents of the food units, making adjustments to the menu, but this seemed to him little - after success in the UK he went to the USA, fast food and frost citadel. The fighting for the correct food of the children was cruel (which is at least a legal battle with "McDonald's"!), But here Oliver came out victorious.

Of course, we could not leave this article without a recipe from the master. We suggest you prepare a grape cake from Jamie, because he's just fabulous:

  • Eggs - 3 pieces;
  • Vanilla sugar - 1 packet;
  • Peel 2 small oranges;
  • Peel 2 small lemons;
  • Creamy soft butter - 135 grams;
  • Olive oil (or any other odorless) - 75 ml;
  • Sugar - 202 grams;
  • Milk - 112 grams;
  • Baking powder - 1.5 teaspoons without a slide;
  • Flour - 310 grams;
  • Salt - a large pinch;
  • Grapes (preferably without pits) - 500 grams.

Cooking?

This is, without exaggeration, the most popular recipe in Russia from all that the cook Oliver offers. James does not focus on the color of the grapes, but we recommend taking a dark one. It is more fragrant.

Cover the form with a diameter of 27-29 cm with baking paper.

Preheat the cabinet to 180 ° C.

Whisk the eggs and salt to the splendor. Do not stop whipping, start pouring sugar (plain and vanilla). In the end, you should get a magnificent creamy mass.

Add both kinds of butter to the eggs, whisk until smooth and pour in the milk. Whisk again.

Mix flour with baking powder and sift into the dough, mixing with a spoon from the bottom up.

Add the citrus peel into the dough, mix to homogeneity and set aside for 10 minutes.

While the dough is infused, rinse, relieve the twigs and drain the grapes.

Add in the dough 1/3 grapes. Stir and lay out an even layer in the prepared form.

Put the cake in the oven for 11 minutes, then pull out the mold, pour the remaining grapes on the surface of the dough and bake another 46-47 minutes. This way of laying fruits is not just recommended by Oliver. James, focusing on the density of the dough, provides you with a uniform distribution of grapes in a pie. If you poured all the berries at once into the dough, then in the baking process they would be at the bottom.

Ready cake should be slightly springy when you press the center. Once you have achieved this, immediately remove the food from the oven and serve, pre-cooling.
