Conflict is what?

Among the numerous definitions that reveal to some extent the concept of conflict, there are only a few.

Some authors define this state as a manifestation of subjective or objective contradictions, which are expressed by the confrontation between the parties.

According to other figures, the conflict is the most acute method of resolving the contradictions that are important, which are formed in the process of interaction. It is based on the contradiction of the parties. As a rule, it is accompanied by negative emotions.

However, in these definitions, the concepts of "contradiction" and "significance of contradictions" are not fully disclosed.

According to Yu. V. Rozhdestvensky, the contradiction refers to speech action. He singled out three stages in the development of the struggle for interests. The first, in his opinion, is the difference in opinion, the second - the contradictions in the process of discussion. The third stage - the conflict - is a direct struggle in action.

Contradiction is defined as a dialogue (speech action), in which the differences of the parties are expressed.

Conflict - this is any speech effects of the parties, which are aimed at causing various harm to the opposite side.

The essence of this phenomenon should be stated in the conceptual scheme. In this case, four main characteristics must be covered. They include dynamics, structure, management and functions.

The structure of the conflict contains an object (controversial subject), subjects (groups, organizations, individuals), conditions, scale (interpersonal, global), tactics and behavior strategies of the parties, outcomes.

Any real conflict is a rather complex dynamic process. It includes the following phases:

  • The objective situation (the formation of objective reasons);
  • Interaction (developing situation or incident);
  • Partial or full resolution.

Depending on the nature, situations are distinguished:

  • Objective (related to actual deficiencies and problems);
  • Subjective (due to various assessments of those or other actions and events).

Depending on the consequences, destructive (acting destructively) and constructive (providing for rational transformation) situations are determined.

Among the existing certain classification of contradictory situations, conflicts of interest are quite common. These include situations in which distribution issues are raised, or which arise against the background of competition for possession.

In other words, a conflict of interest is a situation in which the interests of the parties involved (goal plans, motives, aspirations, etc.) are involved, which are contradictory or incompatible with each other. These include, for example, the differences of the spouses over the plans for the forthcoming vacation. This situation is related to contradictions. If incompatible, the situation becomes a resource conflict. This is due to the often arising desire of the parties to get the same resource or the most beneficial part of it. At the same time, opponents tend to one goal, but in view of the limited or single nature of the resource, their interests contradict each other. Such problems often arise in everyday life.

All events, phenomena of a social nature, community (political parties, family, etc.) can be viewed from the standpoint of conflict. At the same time, the result of a contradictory situation can lead to both disagreement and struggle, and solidarity and solidarity of people. Thus, a social conflict is a concept that contains a certain duality. Such a nature of a contradictory situation, expressed in a constructive or destructive beginning, plays an important role in the development of society.
