Administrative districts of New York

New York is the largest city in the United States of America. It is one of the most densely populated areas of our planet. The city is located simultaneously in three states: its north-western part - in the same-named New York, south-west - in New Jersey, and the eastern part - in Connecticut.

New York, like any other large city, is divided into several administrative districts. Below are the main areas of New York.

Perhaps the most famous is Manhattan. About 1.5 million people live on its territory. The area is located on an island, the length of which is 21.7 kilometers, and the width in the widest place is 4 km. This area of New York has an area of more than 62 square kilometers. Conventionally, Manhattan is divided into three parts: Uptown, Midtown, Downtown. The border between them passes through 14 and 59 streets. Like many areas of New York, they are also divided into many small areas, which often do not exceed the size of one quarter.

Manhattan is the heart of New York. It houses virtually all the skyscrapers of the city. Here you can find attractions such as Empire State Building, Broadway, Times Square and much more. Near the coast of Manhattan is the Statue of Liberty.

Brooklyn - the largest area of the city in terms of the number of residents. It is inhabited by 2.5 million citizens. You can get to this area from Manhattan through the Brooklyn or Manhattan bridges. Not only the road passes through them, but also the railway tracks and the metro line. On the territory of Brooklyn are the quarters of the famous Brighton Beach, a district inhabited mostly by immigrants from Russia and CIS countries. In addition, in Brooklyn you can find a huge number of interesting places and attractions.

Most of the Queens area is located on the same island with Brooklyn. In its territory there are just over 2 million people, most of whom are immigrants from the Middle East, Asia, Africa and southern Europe. In Queens there are seven huge sleeping areas. At one time they received the name "Seven Sisters". They live in most of the area.

All areas of New York are on the islands, but one Brockns has a continental location. It is the most northern district. To date, this region inhabits more than 1.2 million people. Its southern part (the Southern Bronx) has long earned a reputation as the most criminal place in the city. More attractive and safe is the North Bronx, which houses the famous Yankee Stadium.

Unlike Staten Island, all areas of New York are very popular among tourists. Staten Island is the most peaceful district in which life goes on as usual. There is no characteristic for the city influx of travelers, so here you can see the most ordinary and typical inhabitants of this metropolis.
