The disadvantage is the lack of winding when using watches in sedentary occupations or when they lie somewhere on the shelf.

The next step in the development of watch movements is the quartz watch. The energy of motion is taken from a conventional battery or from a small photocell. They transmit pulses through a quartz crystal to a small electric motor, and already it drives the gears of the mechanism. Such a mechanism does not depend on the mode of use and is sufficiently accurate. The disadvantage is the hurry of the clock when the crystal is "aged".

The most recent achievement in the watch industry is the electronic mechanism. The energy of the battery is transferred to the mechanism, which turns on and off at certain point the necessary sections of the screen, thus forming numbers. Such men's wristwatches have a higher accuracy than all of the above.
