What is pantone color and why did they come up with?

Panton colors are a kind of system that allows you to choose the tone you want from the huge range presented in the catalog. Nowadays it is the most popular in the whole world, and also universal for any kind of activity. But most often pantone-colors are used in printing magazines, books, newspapers and other publications.

A bit of history

When the public press in the first half of the last century began to move to a color standard, the need arose to select a quality, and most importantly, easy-to-use color scheme. Publishers who wanted to produce their goods according to new criteria were scattered all over the world, and somehow they had to unite their activities. So there was a table of colors "Panton", which was developed by the eponymous American corporation. Each shade in this system has its code cipher, consisting of Latin letters and numbers, which allows it to be used by people of all countries and nations. Over the years, the number of tones that were present in this spectrum increased, which allowed publishers to make better and more perfect prints.

What does this mysterious catalog look like?

More often pantonnik (as it is customarily called in our country) is presented to the consumer in the form of a fan. It consists of longitudinal sheets of paper, painted in certain colors. All shades are located on the principle of proximity to each other, so choosing what you need will not be so difficult, even in spite of the large number of options. As a rule, each oblong piece of paper is divided into zones, painted in different shades of the same color, starting with dark, saturated, finishing very light. Thus, the fan that forms pantone colors can start with yellow, followed by ocher, then orange, red, pink, purple and so on.

Technology and Psychology

Annually representatives of the company "Panton" nominate in the first place a single color from all their range. For example, in 1999, the azure-blue shade was recognized as a shade of the millennium, in 2005 the violet color became the color of the year, in 2009 the victory was won by "mimosa", in 2011 - "honeysuckle", in 2012 - red-orange shade. As it turned out, this choice is not at random. Constantly for the economic, social, ecological and psychological state of the whole planet is observed by representatives of the company "Panton". Colors are chosen based on the problems that are currently most relevant.
