Tilapia, calorie content

Among the variety of marine products today we will allocate fish tilapia. It is a freshwater fish belonging to the family of cichlids. This family is estimated in hundreds of species. As a rule, their habitat is the tropics. From the general family, several subfamilies can be distinguished, which in Russian are called "tilapii" with emphasis on the second vowel.

Why did they call her that? It is said that in a distant Africa a certain lake tribe gave a fish such a name, according to their language. There is also a more ridiculous version of the origin of the name tilapia. Almost anecdotal. She is associated with Aristotle. The scientist tried the taste of fish meat, clapped his hands in frustration and said: "I'm sorry that this fish is tilapia", i.e. "Far" in translation.

There are a number of other names. We will not focus on them. Suffice it to say that a number of grocery supermarkets hang a seafood on a showcase called "river chicken" or "chicken of the sea".

Tilapia in terms of biology

The most likely area of origin of fish is Asia Minor. But as a result of human intervention, it spread to the vast expanses of Asia and affected the African continent. There are many different subspecies and modifications of tilapias.

Fish of the family of cichlids are hardy and are able to quickly adapt to climate change, which is typical for tilapias. Internal communication is by means of signals. Inside the species, so-called "mating pairs" are created, carrying offspring by spawning babies from caviar. Each pair is an active owner of its territory.

According to the method of feeding, tilapia is either omnivorous or feeds on aquatic vegetation (depending on the species). Some species of the family even manage to feed on underwater soil. These are just the kinds that feed on not completely recycled organic.

Accelerated ripening of fish contributes to the assimilation of detrital amino acids. Male individuals develop and acquire the ability to sexually reproduce before females. The spawning period occurs when the water warms up to 25 and above degrees Celsius. Tilapia gives an offspring usually once a month, under appropriate conditions.

To protect their young, almost all fish hide caviar in their mouths. The process of fry formation takes about a month. Then there is a gradual "coming out" of young fish. They are taught to live on their own.

Keeping this way the spawned eggs, tilapia performs several functions: protective (the offspring are not exposed to the harmful effects of the external environment), sanitary (careful testing of eggs, marriage or sick individuals are mercilessly removed). Also, some species of tilapia spawn as standard, like most other fish. They rush it to the outer surface, for example, a rocky ground and zealously protect offspring from encroachments of strangers.

Tilapia. Caloric value

Tilapia meat is juicy and almost fat-free with lots of protein. It is used in fried, baked form or as a decoction for a couple. The less red veins in fish, the more delicious its fillets. Fish is unpretentious in cooking, which gives ample opportunities for creative culinary activities.

Nutritionists calculated the daily portion of the product fish tilapia. The calorie content of a normal diet does not exceed 2 kcal per day. For this dietary ration, this is approximately one average serving by 99.22 g. The composition of tilapia: calories - 98, protein - 18.5 g, fat - 2.4 g (4%), sodium - 0.052 g.

Industrial Content

In cooking, the delicate protein tilapia meat has become a kind of gastronomic delicacy. Tilapia, caloric content of fish, high percentage of protein in meat and moderate fat content allow us to talk about it as a dietary dish. Equally important is the aforementioned breed of cichlids for breeding. This fish is hardy, omnivorous and universally accustomed to any water, whether it is fresh or salty.

This type of fish is unpretentious and hardy. Seafood is popular, because it has a tender taste. It can be subjected to any heat treatment: frying, soaring or baking. Tilapia - low calorie, low fat, protein in large quantities. By these indicators it is balanced for any diets. It is safe to say that as caloric content of fish, and its taste qualities, versatility will allow seafood to occupy a decent niche in consumption and the fishing industry.
