Sometimes it seems that there is not a single corner on the Earth where the human foot has not walked, and there is not a single plant or animal that the world has not yet seen. However, nature is still able to surprise people, now and then discovering in its bowels more and more unusual living beings. People who inhabit land and water are strange animals with their appearance and can cause a smile, and shock, and disgust.

One of the unusual mammals can be called a spit. This insectivorous animal is small in size, although, in comparison with other animals of this order, it can be called quite large: its body length reaches 32 cm, and the tail - 25 cm. It weighs a natural wonder about 1 kg. The genus is divided into two main types: the Haitian cleft and the Cuban. From here we can draw a conclusion about the places where this animal is found. His face looks like a hedgehog, only with a longer nose. The spittle looks innocuous enough and pretty, but its teeth contain poison, which it injects at the bite, like a snake. In addition to insects, this animal eats small carrion, therefore in the ecosystem it is considered one of the most important species. Up until 2003, the spits were considered extinct until scientists discovered several living individuals that are now carefully guarded, since there is a serious danger of the final disappearance of these creatures from the face of the Earth.

Another unusual and strange animal is called ay-ay, or a rukonozhka. This is the only primacy that hunts, relying on echolocation, like bats. Coming from Madagascar, ah-ai eats insects, which he digs out from under the tree bark with his long, thin fingers. This miracle-animal lives on trees, in nests of a spherical shape with an opening for entry and exit. The length of his body is about 40 cm, and the fluffy tail - as much as 60 cm. He has large eyes and large, leathery ears.

Also included in the list of "strange animals" is a representative of decapod crustaceans, like a palm thief. Inhabits this eerie-looking (but, probably, edible) creature in the western Pacific Ocean, as well as on the tropical islands of the Indian Ocean. The body of this land cancer reaches 32 cm in length, and thanks to claws and long paws the animal seems even more. Weighs such a "crustacean" about 4 kilograms. He got his name not because he steals palm trees, but because he eats mostly coconuts. For a long time it was thought that he could crack such a nut with his huge claws, but to date, scientists have proved that this is not true: the cancer eats already chopped coconuts. He also does not disdain the organic substances found in the soil, the fruits of plants and their like.

However, in nature there are not only strange animals, but strange fish. For example, a fish with a transparent head , which lives at a very deep depth, was first discovered only in 1939, and the structure of its eyes was fully studied only in 2009. This fish has a really transparent head, which protects, like a spacesuit, the tubular eyes inside it. Through her head she watches her prey.

Rare and strange animals always attract the attention of scientists, even despite their skepticism in some cases. For example, in India, local people have known for many years about the existence of a purple (frog) frog, but scientists learned this reptile only in 2003. They simply did not believe in its existence, because it most likely just did not come across their eyes. This is not surprising, because the purple frog spend most of the year deep (almost 4 m) under the ground, from under which it is selected to the surface only during the rainy season, lasting about 2 weeks. She does this solely for one purpose - to continue her lineage.

Of course, this is by no means all the strange animals of the world, and for sure there are others somewhere, about the existence of which no one knows to this day.
