The Amur level in Khabarovsk is growing rapidly

The risk of a repetition of the destructive flood, which in the summer of 2013 has done a lot of trouble in the Far East, is not ruled out. The level of the Cupid today is slightly above normal. Much depends on the summer rains. EMERCOM employees are doing everything necessary to ensure that the disaster does not happen again.

Game of nature

Cupid in translation from local Tungus-Manchurian languages means "river of the black dragon". The legend tells that there lived in her a kind of black snake, which was the personification of good. He defeated the white dragon (evil). He turned over the fishermen's boats, did not give a good catch. Whatever it was, but, apparently, this villain from time to time makes itself felt and today, in his own way "muddy the water."

The level of the Amur in Khabarovsk is generally unstable. The fluctuations range from 10-15 meters in the beginning and middle of the river, in the mouth - up to 6-8 meters.

Water, water all around

As you know, without water there is no life. But when there is a lot of it, it poses a threat to humanity.

August, 2013 year. Abundant downpours, going continuously, led to an unprecedented flood of the mighty river. In the Jewish, Amur regions, as well as in the Khabarovsk Territory, 185 towns and villages stood in water. More than 9 thousand houses, as well as 13 thousand homestead lands and 4 thousand dachas. Plus 374 buildings of the social sphere.

Under the water 611 km of roads and 600 thousand hectares of fields with sprouting crops hid. The voyage on the ships of passengers along the river was stopped.

The level of the Amur in Khabarovsk was such that it was impossible to walk along the streets, neither on foot, nor on transport. The same situation was in Blagoveshchensk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur and other cities.

The left-bank islets also covered with water. The livestock of domestic and agricultural suffered. And wild animals even swam across the river. Otherwise there was no escape.

This was not 120 years old

If the Amur level in Khabarovsk, for example, on August 18, 2013 was higher than the absolute maximum of 1913 by 642 cm, then a week later it became 736 cm.

Rescuers MOE along with volunteers erected dams, other protective structures. Yes, unless you keep a powerful flow! Especially since the water came just swiftly. September 4, 2013 rose to 808 cm. The city steadily went under the water. This flood has not happened here for 120 years! Only on September 5 the elements began to recede.

And what about the water level of 912 cm? This was on September 12, 2013 near Komsomolsk. And this despite the fact that an unfavorable indicator is 600 cm, and dangerous - 650 cm. It is clear why people were in a panic. In the flood zone there were already more than 820 houses with 10 thousand inhabitants.

September 13, the water slept a little, but not for long. The stubborn Amur-father continued to be capricious. His water seemed frozen for a few days at around 908 cm. And then the curve of indicators again crawled up. People began to evacuate, because the flooded areas quickly ended food and drinking water.

So the village of Svechino in the Khabarovsk Territory became an island. The roads are blurred, movement is possible only on boats. And if in the Komsomolsk-on-Amur region, for example, about 3 thousand people went to temporary centers (sanatoria, military campuses or hostels), then many refused it. Almost in every farm - pigs, chickens, cows. You can not take them with you and you will not leave them to perish.

There was no choice for those whose houses were completely destroyed. In the Amur region, for example, 6,000 people counted such people.

And the forecasts of meteorologists continued to be disappointing. They were also expecting a storm. And then even strong defenses can collapse.

Rescuers from Moscow, Chita, Novosibirsk, Kamchatka, Primorye, and Magadan came to the aid of local specialists of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and builders.

The level is growing faster than last year's

Residents of the Far East and especially Khabarovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur are worried now. With alarm listen to the operational information of hydrologists about the water level in the Amur today. After all, it can grow at a speed of 5, 7 and even 10 cm per day, as it was a year ago.

So, on June 23, 2015, Komsomolsk on Amur was concerned. The water level was 200-250 cm. And what will happen next? For comparison, the level of the Amur in Khabarovsk is now arriving at twice as fast as in 2013. Although the experts and reassure. Like, the previous large-scale disaster will not happen again.

According to hydrologists, the current level of the Amur near Khabarovsk today will continue to rise until the end of July. It is expected that by that time it will reach 280-300 cm - and this is close to normal.

Maybe it will cost?

But man, as they say, assumes, but God disposes. If there is a torrential rain without pause, the cyclones will give way to heat, then just wait for the disaster.

We must not forget that from November 2014 to March 2015, 9 cyclones walked around the Khabarovsk Territory. And last winter was, by the way, according to meteorologists, the snowiest since 1953. In some areas (for example, Soviet-Gavan, Nikolaevsky), snow piled 200-300% of the annual rate!

But experts say that the level of the Amur in Khabarovsk today is not dangerous. After all, there are discharges of accumulated in reservoirs. And the rise of water in the Amur will not grow to critical marks.
