City `s history

Hunchun is quite young for Chinese cities, often numbering millennia of history. The first mention of him can be found from the middle of the century before last. In the area where Hunchun is now located, tribes of nomadic Jurchens, related to the Mongols, lived for hundreds of years and gave the local river and, accordingly, the city the name, which means "borderland". Today, Hunchun belongs to the urban county of Yanbian in the Korean Autonomous Region in the Chinese province of Jirin. It is located on the right bank of the river Hunchunhe.
