How to combine colors in the interior of a living room?

Each person has his own perception of color and aesthetic preferences. But, regardless of this, the principles of a harmonious combination of shades in the design, which are successfully used in practice by architects, artists, designers, are developed. On how to combine colors depends the attractiveness of the room, the comfort and the general interior of the room. Unfortunately, not everyone has an innate sense of taste and measure, as a result of which the so-called "color circle" was created.

When creating a design, one shade is taken as a basis, which is combined with other variants.

The number of palettes depends on the desired result. However, filling one room with 4-5 shades is not advisable, since it is too much.

In order to understand how to combine colors, we will analyze the main aspects in this area:

- Monochromatic or monochrome combination. In this case, apply shades of the same color, but varying degrees of saturation. Someone like this may seem boring, but the result often exceeds expectations.

- Contrast combination. It is extremely important to understand how to correctly combine colors in the interior. For a basis we take two shades which we select to the basic on the above-mentioned circle from the opposite side. Not so sharp and experimental solution is the "Triad". In this case, three shades equidistant from one another are used. To understand how to combine colors to create an interior "triad", we use an equilateral triangle. One of the vertices indicates the tone of the main palette, and the other two - for additional shades.

- Combination of colors that cause a sense of comfort. This is one of the best solutions for living. It is necessary to combine related, neighboring colors, which are located next to the main shade on the circle.

As we can see, everything is extremely simple, if we use improvised means in the form of the above-mentioned circles. Of course, there are a lot of shades, and there may be a problem associated with how to combine the colors that are provided in the assortment of the building and furniture store. But you can foresee an approximate result.

In order for the design to turn out to be harmonious and not colorful, it is better to limit to 2 or 3 color combinations. Please note that:

  • Gray color is combined with blue, black, white, light green, blue and pink;
  • Beige - with bright red, brown, peach, purple, herbal;
  • Brown - with white, gold, beige, milky, dark blue, green;
  • Red color is combined with white, pink, black, golden tinge;
  • Blue - with gray, green, purple, blue and white.

This is only a short list, it can be continued for a very long time. If we talk about contrasting solutions, then the blue tone can be combined with yellow, red - with blue, pink - with light green and so on.

Now you know how to combine colors in the interior, but remember that, regardless of the rules set, the decision is always yours. Do not be afraid to experiment, but at the beginning it is advisable to transfer your ideas to paper or a computer monitor. A good example is always better than a fuzzy fantasy.
