History of the circus

The circus in Nizhny Novgorod opened in the distant 1883. Then the brothers Nikitin - Peter and Akim - built a building for him. The first room was wooden. Three years later a stone structure was erected.

In 1923 the circus became state. That building in which it is located now, was built in 1964. The auditorium was designed for 1,719 seats. In 1984, a large-scale reconstruction began in the circus. But since there was a catastrophically shortage of money, it was soon frozen. And only in 2005 it was renewed again, and two years later the works were completed. But there were some shortcomings, which had to be eliminated already during the work of the circus after its opening. Now the auditorium accommodates two thousand people. There are places that will be convenient for wheelchair users. Also the hall is equipped with new light and sound equipment. Modern laser and video projectors are installed. In the circus there was a second arena and an autonomous boiler room. Separate premises for the maintenance of monkeys, elephants, predators, sea animals, and dogs were constructed. A large stable designed for 37 horses is also organized. Now the circus has its own, large and modern veterinary clinic. Equipped with a covered courtyard, where in any weather you can deal with loading and unloading. In total, the circus area is now thirty thousand square meters.
