Acclimatization in a child: how to travel without problems?

As you grow up, it is much easier for a person to adapt to changing weather conditions, altitude, temperature, pressure, and so on. But the acclimatization of a child can sometimes be quite difficult.

As a rule, symptoms appear on the first day, as soon as the family has arrived elsewhere. First, suddenly there is weakness. Also, the baby may have problems with sleep, irritation and moodiness. Often acclimatization in a child is accompanied by headaches. Less often the temperature rises in children and the throat starts to hurt, which is very similar to the symptoms of a common cold. And in some children acclimatization is manifested as a disruption in the digestive system: the child loses his appetite, his tummy hurts, unexpected nausea and vomiting may occur. Most often this occurs as a result of a reaction to a new, unusual local food.

On average, the process of acclimatization takes about 7-10 days. As your child grows up, this term will be reduced.

Nevertheless, the acclimatization of the child should not be an obstacle to a full family vacation. The main thing is to know how to help him adapt quickly to unusual conditions.

If you go to hot countries, to the seaside, in the very first days after arrival, the kid should not bathe in the sea. Do not spend too much time in the sun. Practically on every modern beach you can find special dosimetric tables. There you will see information about what time intervals and how much a child can swim and sunbathe in these climatic conditions. It is also desirable that the baby is always dressed in products made from natural fabrics. Before the trip, you must buy an umbrella from the sun (on some beaches they are already installed) and specialized sunscreen products for children. Do not overfeed your baby, especially when it comes to unusual ethnic cuisine. In addition, it is important not to dehydrate the body. The child should drink a sufficient amount of mineral water and juices, but by no means sweet soda drinks.

As for travel to countries with a cold climate, here in the first place you should avoid sudden changes (from summer to winter). With him, you must take comfortable warm clothes. Acclimatization in the child in this case also requires an increase in the number of calories consumed daily, by 10-15% in comparison with the usual diet. Before the trip you should enter a large number of berries and fruits in the menu of your child (in particular, currants, pomegranates, cranberries are very useful). Food should be rich in vitamins A, C and E. Immediately upon arrival, it is better to put the baby to sleep, so that the temperature change he felt, already being rested and gaining strength.

A frequent phenomenon is also acclimatization in children after the sea, more precisely, re-acclimatization. After returning to their native places, the children's body starts to rebuild again. And this process is much more complicated than after arriving in another country. That's why experts do not advise immediately to give the child to a kindergarten, school or to classes in the sports section. It's better if he stays at home for a few days. Then you can control his state of health.

It should be understood that adults also face such a phenomenon as acclimatization. Symptoms in children are more pronounced, but if you follow all the recommendations of experts, you will help your child to cope with this, and family rest will be "excellent".
